SMC Housing Info

Recently, St. Mike's has decided not to show the dorms during campus tours. The reasoning for this is, I think, very understandable and can be seen below. For this reason I have created this page in order to make it easy to find videos and blog posts about the different living spaces on campus in order to give a better idea of what to expect for a living situation when attending SMC.

“Because of the residential nature of our campus, each dorm building is much more than a building – it is home for the students that live in it. As ambassadors of the college, we want to respect each resident’s privacy and personal space, and there is not enough room within the halls of these buildings to accommodate tour groups while maintaining a respectful, private atmosphere for all residents. We strive to respect our current students’ home and want to ensure that they are able to feel comfortable and at home. You can visit our website to see pictures of each of our residence halls.”

First Year Housing
All students live in the quad (Joyce, Ryan, or Lyons) and have a single, double, or, in very rare cases, a triple (consisting of a double room, a single room, and a bathroom...not a bad deal.)

Blog posts about the quad:

The Suites
The suites are either 4 or 8 person and have all single rooms, a common room, and one bathroom for every four people.

Blog posts about the suites:

Town Houses
There are four sets of townhouses organized by numbers. House sizes vary, but it is most common to have a four person house with single rooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a full kitchen.

Triples
While most students never even see a triple, there are some around campus.
Jose '14 - a post about his triple (2011)
